Nd:YAG 1064 Laser

The standard for removing vascular lesions (spider veins, telangiectasias, smaller leg veins, periorbital veins) on the face and body. Occasionally, the 1064 Nd:YAG may be used to treat brown spots on the skin, although this not our “go-to” laser for brown spots.  The reason why the 1064 is considered the standard to remove facial vessels is because is has a strong absorption to something called oxyhemoglobin.  This allows the laser to selectively heat veins to remove them or make them less visible while not harming the skin.

What does the Nd:YAG 1064 Laser treat?

  • Spider Veins

  • Cherry Angiomas

  • Venous Lakes

  • Telangiectasias

  • Small Leg Veins

  • Periorbital Veins

  • Onychomycosis (toenail fungus)

  • Seborrheic Keratosis

What areas of the body does the Nd:YAG Laser treat?

  • Any area of the body and face can be treated with this laser.

How many treatments do I need?

  • We recommend starting with a single-treatment and see how you respond to treatment. Typically, vessels respond well to treatment, but it is not uncommon to need more than one treatment for larger or thicker vessels.  Average number of sessions is between 1 and 5 spaced 4 weeks apart.

What is the recovery like?

  • Some redness in the treatment area along with some swelling and itching are common and may last a few days.  Occasionally, there may be some scabbing that should heal without problems. Please note that veins may look worse as they heal and complete healing may take up to 6 months. It is also recommended that you stay out of the direct sun and avoid jacuzzi, sauna or hot yoga for at least 2 days following treatment.
